All the while trying to stay safe from the pack of werewolves hunting her and keeping her moral fiber intact by resisting the strong temptation to bed a big blond vamp or a warm breathing Were.Īt times I find the television characters and the book characters get a little jumbled because there are some glaring differences. If you can approach the novels as a separate entity to the series this shouldn’t affect your enjoyment. In Club Dead we see her disposing of bodies, shooting armed robbers, staking a vamp, being staked while saving a vamp from the same fate, and freeing the man she’s no longer sure she ever wants to see again. Sookie’s life may never have been normal because of the constant bombardment of thoughts from everyone around her but she never would have dreamed that her attachment to Bill would take her so much further from the normal daylight world she always dreamed of. Bringing her into so much contact with blood, bodies and her own personal injuries. Is now the time that Eric will finally get his fangs into Sookie? Or will Alcide and his warm, breathing handsomeness bring Sookie back to intimate involvement with the living? Sookie’s libido may have had quite a late awakening but the recent distance of Bill, and news through Eric of his more recent betrayal, have it running hot. It is decided that the least suspicious cover story would be that Sookie is Alcide’s new girlfriend, which calls for some reasonably close contact. This is where things get really interesting. Here we meet Alcide a handsome, breathing, well built Werewolf enticed by Eric to act as a guide and look out for Sookie as he assists in her entrance to ‘Josephine’s’ the local Jackson supernaturals bar – fondly known by its patrons as ‘Club Dead’. Soookie is dispatched to Jackson on an intelligence gathering mission to see if she can pick up anything about his whereabouts. It isn’t long before we are introduced to quite a few new characters and a brand new town as well as some new supernatural beings we haven’t yet come across.īill is working on something that turns out to be not quite as top secret as he thought, something that manages to get him kidnapped. So, I’ll try and give it the best of both perspectives.Ĭlub Dead brings us back to Bon Temps and all the characters we have grown to love in the first two books. I really want to write this from an objective and stand alone perspective for those of you who aren’t familiar with the True Blood television series but I am finding it really difficult as I am a huge fan of the series. Club Dead is the 3rd installment in the Sookie Stackhouse series where we follow Sookie into her next adventure, complete with a change of scenery.
